Over
the past 4 years the JIB has grown into a very potent musical
organization. Each year growing in ability.
The organization has produced a Championship quality quartet with JIB Soloists claiming top awards in recent years including The Borders Slow Melody Open solo award, Two Brass in the Park best senior soloist awards, and Scotlands best euphonium 2007 at the very highest level.
As predicted, Border bands are within reach of the 1st section. Neighboring band Selkirk Silver and the JIB consistently maintain a high quality in the top half of the 2nd section whilst St Ronans actually managed to move up this year just before their 200th anniversary.
Selkirk were first to enter the 1st section briefly in 1995 within their first 100 years.
We hope to enter the 1st section before our 160th aniversary.
Add to this the wonderful social aspects
and facilities available to JIB members and you would be potty not to
pay us a visit. If you are more of an intermediate player our training
band Abbey Brass is also on fire with tallent at the moment, two times
national youth champions and already starting to make waves in the 4th
section!, watch out 3rd section players!.
It is fair to say that the JIB offers musical training that is second to none, welcoming players of any ability.
If you are dedicated enough why not drop in to mission hall and we will see what seat you are best suited to.
